What is an earthquake? An earthquake is a disaster. A disaster is also called a disaster or calamity. There are two types of calamity or calamity.

Earthquakes,

October 8, 2005, a major earthquake struck Uri and Tangdhar villages in
North Kashmir, India. Earlier on January 26, 2000 he came to Bhuj
district of Kutch, Gujarat.
What can be done to protect oneself during an earthquake?
If you are at home,
- Take shelter under a table and stay there until the shaking stops.
- Stay away from tall and heavy objects that may fall on you.
- If you are in bed, do not stand up, protect the head with a pillow.
If you are out,
Find an open area away from buildings, trees and overhead power lines. Sit on the ground.
If
you are in a motor or bus, do not come out. Ask the driver to drive
slowly to an open spot. Do not come out until the shaking stops.
Richter Scale
The unit that shows the value of earthquake intensity on a scale is called Richter Scale.
An earthquake that is destructive has a magnitude greater than 7 on the Richter scale.
Both the Bhuj and Kashmir earthquakes had a magnitude of more than 7.5.
